Tasty nougat (turron) made by Casa Colomina with a marzipan base, to which cream and walnuts are added. Its sweet and soft taste makes it a good end to any Christmas meal.
Casa Colomina is a family-run business that has been producing artisan turrones in Xixona since 1908. In the old times, the family’s ancestors would work throughout the year in Xixona making this speciality. Just before Christmas, they would travel to Barcelona to sell their turrones -which arrived by boat- in the shops that they still keep in the city’s old quarters. Still today, the descendants of Casa Colomina continue to prepare this sweet in the traditional way in Xixona, although fortunately they use faster means of transport!
