One of our favourites. This fragrant oil is made using olives from olive trees growing in fields situated more than 3,000 feet above sea level, in the Sierras Subbéticas nature reserve. It is extracted from the green Hojiblanca and Picuda varieties of olive which, in Portico de la Villa, evokes the scent of herbs, tomato and apple. Its taste develops and begins to take on slightly bitter and spicy undertones.
The extraordinary quality of this oil has been credited with numerous national and international awards, including First Prize in the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture Awards in 2003 and 2004, Gold Medal in the Los Angeles International Competition, and Silver Medal in the International Olive Oil Awards that took place in Switzerland.
